All the things I have heard are normal things that all military housing has. The carpet color is the same at every post I have been at. The traffic is also normal on a post new a large city like that. My husband is a e4 and we have housing available right now and we need a 4 bedroom. The px being split is the same as every post I have been at so I don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t understand why its confusing. The elementry being crowded is normal it is a post with a ton of military kids. I love this post and have had no problems with it. Its a wonderful place to live imo.

The waitlist I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m talking about is for officers. They, in fact, took a mixed community of officers and enlisted and then systematically REMOVED all the officers out of that housing and converted it ALL to enlisted but never made any new plans to add more officer housing. From what it looks like, it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a push to make officers live off-post because they get paid more but they haven?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t increased BAH for officers to be able to afford living off post without significant sticker-shock.

As for the elementary school?¢‚Ǩ‚Äúwhen you have to STOP allowing military kids that LIVE on post to enroll into the on-post school because it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s at its capacity, then you should consider NOT zoning it so that kids that live OFF-post can go into the school, filling up those slots. Yes, about 3% of Fort Belvoir Elementary school kids are NOT military and get bussed in from off-post! That 3% may not seem like much but when you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re a new family to the post and you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re told that your kid can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t go to the post school because it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s full, then there?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a problem. Besides, the school administration never seemed TOO concerned about learning the benefits of having a large amount of military kids in the population?¢‚Ǩ‚Äúand they even admitted it to me. I found that really sad and lacking. I eventually took the time to apply and send my daughter to a magnet school elsewhere in Fairfax County, which I have to say that we?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re VERY happy to have been admitted to!

And, no, NOT all Pxes are split. I came from a post where when I went to the PX, I found EVERYTHING that I needed. No having to go elsewhere to get certain items! Not everything is the same everywhere. This is the first privatized housing we lived in and it wasn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t all that great?¢‚Ǩ‚Äúwe just bought off-post in Falls Church and while we spend more than our BAH every month on just our mortgage, it was worth it.
